Good place to work but has changed since I worked there
When I worked there, the working environment was good. Management was good, supporting the employees and getting things done. The company was purchased by Telcordia, and has changed since I worked there.
Doesn't exist anymore
Bellcore was a wonderful place to work. The people were wonderful and the work was relaxed and stress free. It was purchased by SAIC which was a HORRIBLE company that sold all of the real assets and took half of the pension. Bellcore does not exist anymore.
Stressfull and Overly Competitive
The work is large and the pay is smaller than most; Work life balance is poor overall and advancement is who-you-know. A great deal of purging of projects results in purging of staff.

My experience at Bell Labs (Bellcore after divestiture) was educational and positive. It was a great place to start my career.
Great place to work for
During the early 1990's through 2013 alot of layoff's occurred I survived through all of the layoff's and restructuring of the business.
Summer Adventure
This summer Internship was a great adventure. I recommend all students to apply here as an Intern. A typical day was spent first getting coffee from the cafeteria and buying nuts from vendors who sold all kinds of nutritious snacks.
