What is the emphasis of LEC?
Emphasis is placed on child development, personality and social behaviours. Further topics may include psychopathology, motivation and emotion and other relevant issues. (LEC/EXP 3) (3 cr)

Students registered for the course will be required to attend the Contemporary Women's Writing Association's International Conference scheduled for July 3-5, 2019.
What is a women's writing course?
A selection of works by women, containing significant commentary on the status and experience of women including issues such as race, class, and sexual preference , from about 1950 to the present. Works are drawn primarily from British and North American literature, as well as from other emerging English literatures. (sem 3) 3 credits. Students registered for the course will be required to attend the Contemporary Women's Writing Association's International Conference scheduled for July 3-5, 2019.
What is level 4 EAP?
The Level Four EAP program is offered to international students with English proficiency at advanced level. Students will have five core courses: Reading/Writing, Research Skills, Speaking/Oral Presentation, Listening/Note Taking, and Grammar. Level four students are divided into three academic streams based on the area/major of interest: A: Humanity & Social Science; B: Business; C: Computer Science. They have the opportunity to audit an academic course related to the three streams. The ESL instructor accompanies the students in the audit course and then reviews the content and vocabulary of the course in the ESL class. Graduating level four students with an 80% average or higher will have the option to enter directly into an academic program, while students achieving between 70%-79% average in their core courses will enter the level five Bridging Program.
What is the ESL program at Algoma?
ESL@Algoma’s Bridging Program is uniquely designed to prepare international students for their academic success with greater independence. The program allows students to enroll in a maximum of three academic courses with an ESL support system in place. Bridging Program is based on a set of core competencies which the students will be expected to perform once they graduate from university. The four core competencies are: • Communication Skills • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving • Global Understanding and Intercultural Relations • Professional and Ethical Behavior BP aims to create an academic environment within which students consolidate and apply their English language skills. It utilizes portfolio-based assessment where students are given the freedom to identify and select samples of their own work (exams, essays, assignments, group projects, volunteer work on and off campus) to provide evidence that they have achieved the specific learning outcomes.
